Discovery, correct configuration for QOS

Post by can1n »

Hello friends.
Forgive me for the English, I used bing translator. lol

I have in my house three routers, a TPLINK WR841ND V9, WR741ND
V1 and a TPLINK Archer c2

My main router is WR841ND and consequently uses the last version of the gargoyle firmware.

My network structure is as follows:

WR841ND (getting the internet signal, wifi signal active, DHCP and QOS configured.)
Wr741nd (WDS mode getting WR841ND signal)
Archer c2 (WDS mode getting WR741ND signal)

I realized that while I'm playing (CSGO) my ping is between 30ms ~ 55ms, by connecting the netflix on some device the ping is still the same, and adding another service, in case youtube by smartphone the ping is still the same.
that with the three devices connected to the Archer.
I decided to connect the smartphone in the second router (WR741ND) with youtube active and the ping in my game remained stable. However when connecting any device to the main router (WR841ND) by wifi signal, my game was totally unstable, with ping between 300ms ~ 600ms. I decided to hide the SSID wifi WR841ND and keep main the WR741ND. In this way the router where are my general settings not destabilizes the receive wifi connection.

In short, simple Routers here in Brazil with average cost of R$140,00 (US $ 39.45) are incredibly limited and do not support all the services that the firmware features.

If you are trying to use QOS on your network, and you don't want to invest in a more powerful router, keep a router just to make this DHCP service and QOS and nothing more.

Once again, I apologize for bad English!
