Bricked TP-Link 1043nd
Can't remember version number, but it's the blue not white.
So I didn't realize that having 2 devices open at once in the gargoyle interface was bad. I made a change, and this wiped all my QoS settings. I had one of those backup rars handy but when I tried to restore settings, the router kinda shat itself.
I was able to ping into it so that was fine just couldn't access the interface. Then I tried to flash the latest gargoyle firmware through ftp. All seemed to go well in the telnet, it said firmware update was completed, restarting router...
Now it's bricked even further, cannot get any response from the router. Setting ip address manually does nothing, it's as if it's not connected. Right now if I power the router on only 3 things light up. No flashing or anything of the lights. Doing 30/30/30 reset gets no response or anything. It's just 3 lights solid on the router while it's on.
What else can I do now?

30/30/30 does nothing. look for openwrt failsafe. proceed as per glorious telnet instructions.

Do you mean here?
https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl ... lsafe.mode
Also i cant telnet into it anymore. Like, nothing. Cant do anything with it. Only thing that seems to work is getting some traffic to appear in wireshark.

Re: Bricked TP-Link 1043nd
Tried those nothing happens. There is no blinking of the lights its just solid. Was thinking though, do fail flashes revert the router to its original firmware now in its bricked state? It might explain why these methods dont work.
Re: Bricked TP-Link 1043nd
I just now realised, my unit is v2 not v3. I must have flashed the v3 firmware on it which worked fine until i made those changes which completely screwed the router

Re: Bricked TP-Link 1043nd
The failsafe procedure should in general still work.
If you believe that it truly isn't, you're up for a serial recovery now. Especially with the wrong firmware on there.
That's where my expertise ends.

Do you happen to be located in Australia?pkm wrote:Thanks for your help though. Looks like i gotta bin this thing heh i cant do serial connections.
It is not hard to debrick it with serial if you have one... I have debrick a few 1043nd v1 for others before but not the v2 you have yet.
I would suggest you keep your bricked router, you might learn to debrick it one day because you might brick enough of them to start learning how to debrick
