WD MyNet N600 [SUCCESS]

Post by jaf0 »

I successfully flashed a Western Digital MyNet N600 router last night.

Original Firmware: Firmware Release 1.04.16 (12/20/2012)

Flashed to OpenWRT with the -factory.bin first http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/wd/n600

then dismayed that there was no real UI, I went in search of a GUI.

I flipped a coin between Luci and Gargoyle, and downloaded the latest stable 1.8.0 sysupgrade.bin.

Here I am. For the record, the factory.bin seemed to take a reallly long time -- about 10+ minutes before I could reconnect.

The sysupgrade went much quicker.

Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

Ha-ha. I just finished doing this without the wiki.

All known devices requiring bandwidth cap each have a static ip in the 100 range. dhcp (for guests) is 170-199 so it can be throttled as well.

IoT devices are 200-254

non throttled devices are < 100.

I've totally figured out the bandwidth hog within 4 hours.

Good stuff.

Thanks! I flashed a MY NET N600 to OpenWRT and can't connect to the .org website. Since I'm without any guidance, I found you folks here.

It's not anything I need, this is way down on my list of spare routers (been in networking a long time), but I am very curious about the OpenWRT style of router and this is a chance to learn.
