Hi Eric,
When I restore from a certain configuration file I made my router boots, crashes, and restarts - repeating this process. The only way to fix it is to go into recovery mode and restore from an older configuration file. I have both a working and non-working configuration file I can send you. This is with 1.2.3 (but I've had it happen with older versions).
I'm on an Asus WL-500gPv2
Thanks!
Maniac

Check that thread out
Some tips you might be able try to get this working.
I have seen backup files differ depending on what browser was
used to create the backup file. I experienced this myself when
using Firefox and Internet Explorer 7/8. Google Chrome is
similar to Firefox I think.
Try to use the same browser that you used to backup the settings
when doing the restore option.
If for some reason you still can't get it working, you might
have a couple options you can do:
1) Load the old configuration and re-do any missing settings
2) Start completely from scratch - fresh config
3) Tricky - involves work, but could be do-able.
#3 would ONLY be used if you need to re-load bandwidth data
or some other information you cannot enter in manually.
#3 - Get 7-zip - freeware, and install it. It can handle .tar files!
Keep track of your Old config and New (not-working) config fiels.
Use 7-zip to open the files and extract the configs.
MAKE SURE you keep the directory structure.
You should be able to edit these files as text files with Notepad.
It's a lot of work, but you can do this if you are careful.

Re: Router Restart Infinite Loop
Can you send me an email with the both the problematic and working config files? You can send it to either eric@gargoyle-router.com or ericpaulbishop@gmail.com.
Re: Router Restart Infinite Loop
Oops, forgot I made this post. I'll send you those Eric, thanks.
DoesItMatter:
I ended up restoring from an old config, I make backups pretty frequently. Thanks though.
