cannot access internet

Post by smily01 »

Hello,

I have a TP link 1043nd v1 router. Today I tried to upgrade the router with from the stockware to Gargoyle 1.9 (I tried also version 1.8) I configured Gargoyle according the manual on Gargoyle’s website. I used the following settings to get access:

Configure Device as: Gateway
Connect via DHCP(wired)
I did not use the option Custom MAC Address and Custom MTU
The router’s IP is 192.168.1.1
The Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0
I didn’t use the option Custom DNS

For wifi I used the following settings:

Wireless Mode: Access point
Transmit power: Max
Wireless Mac filter: Disabled

Access Point SSID: Open Wrt
Wireless Channel: 11
Encryption: WPA2 PSK
Broadcast SSID: enabled
Wireless Client Isolation Disabled

When I accessed the internet via wifi and WAN I couldn’t get access with my ISP

How can I solve this problem?

Hi try unplugging your modem for 2 mins and then plugging it back in again to see if your router will pick it up through DHCP.

The Lan Sub is 255.255.255.0. I unplugged the modem, bit it did not work.

I do not know, but perhaps it is important that I mention that the 1043nd is connected to a router which belongs to my ISP. With the original stockware I could access the internet.

What I mean is if your router receives the ip 192.168.1.1 as a DHCP address then your LAN must be on 192.168.2.1 or anything that isn't on the same subnet. Did you ensure that? It is in the instructions but it is commonly overlooked.
