D-Link DIR-615 rev. C1 recommendations

Post by thunderdust »

Hey guys,

Router: D-Link DIR-615 rev. C1
RAM: 32MB
Flash: 4MB

I followed advice to start with Gargoyle 1.6.2, and it works AMAZINGLY well. I am loving Gargoyle.

I was just wondering: I was recommended to start with Gargoyle version 1.6.2. The documentation says that 4MB is considered "Bare minimum" and may or may not work with my router. There isn't any RISK in trying it out, right? I really want the "Guest" feature, and I see that it's in version 1.7. I'm just afraid of messing up a good thing (my current setup/router). But I don't mind reconfiguring it.

Thanks so much for your time! :D

You can try it. Version 1.9.0 required the removal of two features to make it fit inside 4MB. It really is just getting too small.

What tends to happen is you'll start to see odd behaviour, things like settings not saving etc. this means the router is full. At that point you should be able to reset it via failsafe.

Thanks a lot! I'll give it a shot :)

I see that version 1.8 does not have a download available for my dir-615 router. Any idea of what I should do?

I only found 1.6.2 in a forum thread that someone had the download link to, because it's missing from the Download section for some reason,
