Wrong channel!

Post by lwrver »

I have a Meraki mini running the latest stable release in AP mode, and it runs well except for one thing....I have it set to use channel 6 and it is actually transmitting on channel 2. I've rechecked the setup and all the data is correct. How can this happen?? :?

I think the Meraki Mini is Atheros chipset based and has redboot?

I would try the following:

Reboot the router and get into redboot

perform the command:

fis init -f

to completely wipe the flash except for redboot.

re-load a fresh firmware image

re-configure and see if the channel # is still incorrect.

Well, I've reflashed it several times recently, but I've never wiped the flash prior to reflashing. I'll try that to see if it makes any difference.
Thanks for the suggestion.

I've seen this before, and I don't think reflashing will help. It's almost certainly an issue with the madwifi wireless driver, which is a massive project by itself, much bigger and more complex than Gargoyle which just makes use of it.

My hope is that whatever is causing this issue will be corrected in the Backfire release, which uses a more recent version of madwifi.

Thanks for the feedback Eric. I suspected that it might be a driver issue, unless there was some programmed offset I was unaware of. I have it set for channel 6, and that's quite aways from channel 2. Any idea when you might start using the new madwifi driver with Gargoyle?
