Hi
i have exactly the problem as the this guy here describes here:
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5287&hilit=acc

I have a 150 MBit line. My Modem syncs with 168960 kbits/s.
At Night i'm able to reach ~162 Mbit. (Which is max the speed possible after subtracting the overhead 168960*1460/1514=162933)

I set my Download speed in gargoyle to my modem sync speed 168960.
That worked quite nicely for a few days.
Today i decided to test at night again. But "only" got 105 Mbits.
After restarting i got my normal speed back ~150 Mbit.
It also seems that ACC automatically subtracts ~10% from the entered download speed?
For example i entered 168690 and the link limit is set to 152064.
When i subtract the overhead from that -> 146640
That is exactly what the speed test shows.
Wouldnt it be better to just subtract the overhead from the value the user entered instead of just subtracting 10% ? Or just do no subtracting at all?
But that doesnt explain the lost of ~50mbits.

That's a QOS/ACC problem. But I'm not overly knowledgeable on the system.
If you make a new post someone might have some ideas. But to be honest it sounds alright to me. Sounds like your ISP had a point of poor performance and ACC dropped speed to accomodate. It just takes time for the speed to go back up.

We recently covered with another user how to reset the speed on a cron job.

Also is QOS functioning well at 150mbit?
That's a good sign for this router :) normally it struggles to go that fast on older routers.

When freshly restarted ACC works really well.
The WRT1200AC isnt that old or? I mean 1.3 Ghz dual core. 512Mbit Ram.
Quite powerful.

How is the recover time for the download speed calculated?
And restarting the qos system via cron is not a good idea i think. it will drop all connections.

With the calculations above i want to say that is quite misleading. No where is stated that 10% is automatically subtracted.

For example if i want my 150Mbit to be shown on the speed test i have to enter: 150000*1514/1460*1.1= 171102
It works i get the 150Mbit and nice low pings.
But if a user follows the documentation. And enters 150000 it will only result in ~130 Mbit/s.
Maybe the acc should just fall back to the entered download instant after the downloading finished?

I meant other older routers. I know how new this one is.

It doesn't say 10%, but in he documentation it does say that it sacrifices some speed in order for QOS/ACC to operate.
In my experience if the ISP is performing well, the 10% gap will minimise almost to full speed given a long enough download.

My top speed is entered as 18715 and the fair link speed is currently 18213.

Your other suggestion is best targeted towards user PBix if ou make a thread in the QOS sub forum.

Sorry I misinterpreted the part with the older routers.
I only have this one which can run gargoyle. So i cant tell how it works on older ones.

Hmm that is strange. Thats only ~97%. So ACC needs some calibration time?
How long is it ago that you restarted your router/qos system?
And when you first entered your download was it also reduced by 10% at first?

I dunno if it worth to opening a new thread. I will test some more to be sure.

if i re-enter 18715 and hit save, the speed drops to 16843 as predicted by the 10% rule.
Last time it was reset was maybe a week ago.
My ISP performance varies wildly and my fair link limit can drop as low as 14000. I find a long enough stable download where no one is requesting minimum round trip times from my QOS rules brings it back to pretty close to full speed.

The drop is normal though. It is just a part of the system and necessary for its function. Think of it as 10% tax for reliable speed.

Im so sorry :(

It seems the speedtest i run is indeed to short.
I rerun a longer test with netperf for about 5min.
And yes it seems to work quite well.
It will start by the -10% download speed and slowly (~150kbit/s or so) increases until pings are going to get higher. I will test it again when my download speed are dropped again.

Sorry again to waste your time.

Hi shm0

if you're still reading this thread, i've temporarily fixed the plugins bug. i just need to track down why its happening in the first place.

if you check out the /etc/ directory, you'll see "opkg.gpkg.tmp" as well as "opkg.conf".

the contents of "opkg.gpkg.tmp" should override "opkg.conf" during installation, but it hasn't happened for some reason. doing this manually fixes the plugins page.
