"Client + AP" mode.

Post by uncle john »

This mode works OK when Router IP is left on default setting (ie. 192.168.1.1).
However if Router IP is changed to 192.168.2.1 wireless connections can no longer be made to the AP. Wired connections to the Gargoyle Router work OK for the new address range but wireless AP is broken.
Is this a known problem?

There is a known issue in this mode on broadcom routers. What hardware are you using?

If you're using an atheros router (which doesn't have this problem) check if the two routers are in the same subnet. They need to be in different subnets for this mode to work properly.

I'm using a WRT54GL. Thanks for your comment on the subnet. Others will find this helpful. When I first tried this mode I couldn't get a connection at all. That's why I changed to a 192.168.2.1.

WRT54GL is a broadcom router, so you're likely running into this known issue.
