How to preserve hostnames and static IPs

Post by nathane »

I am aware that I should not "preserve settings" when moving to newer Gargoyle versions. However, the only things I'd really like to preserve are my static IP and hostname assignments.

To restore these after installing a new versioin of Gargoyle, is it as simple as copying in the /etc/ethers and /etc/hosts from my backup tar file? Does anything else need to be touched?

Thanks
