Great Posts

Post by nworbnhoj »

Every now and again some-one does some great research and takes the time to post their knowlege in a great post. I try to bookmark these posts when I see them so that I can find them more easily at some future date. However I wonder if there is a better way ...... ?

Sometimes these posts are hard to find with the forum search - even when I recall they exist. Often they are a little too specific to be formalised in the Doco. Are the Moderators able to "pin" these posts or perhaps have a "Bookmark" thread where moderators can add links to great posts? I could create a GreatPosts page in the Doco Wiki. What is the best way do you think?

Examples from my bookmarks ....

I could create a GreatPosts page in the Doco Wiki.
I started something like that

 Yes exactly! I have stumbled across that page a couple of times now that you remind me.

There are a range of locations for Gargoyle configuration
(sorted roughly by formality/stucture) I see that there is a link to Tips from the bottom of the Config Guide (and some Advanced Tips below that)

I think that I might rejig the Documentation Index a little to make these pages a little more accessible.

Questions on the forum often cover documented Q&A but I do not know if it is just people defaulting to the forum, or that the doco is hard to find or understand? Probably both to varying degrees

OK so I am stuck with my project (again) so I tweaked the Doco a bit (again). Feedback welcome.

Doco Index:
HiLite factory.bin (FAQ in forum)
direct links to install guide and recovery (Fon Flash moved to Dev section)
attempted to bring config doco to the fore (easier to find)

Router Hardware: added a couple of routers

Installation Guide Simplified and clarified (Open question:Can you flash directly to Gargoyle from an OpenWRT install?? )

Recovery: Clarified simple solutions first

Tips: added a couple of links to great posts
