Obtaining Static IP of choice for Ipad

Post by dunnit »

Hi,

I have a TL-WR1043N/ND v1 (192.168.1.2) connected to a modem (192.168.1.1). Wishing to operate quota feature on gargoyle. Hence as a test device i am using an ipad and unable to assign a static ip of my choice - 192.168.1.15 using gargoyle instruction documentation; it only connects using ip 192.168.1.108, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, router 192.168.1.1, and DNS 203.0.178.191, 203.215.29.191.

How can i resolve this issue?

Thanks in advance for your support guys.

your WAN and LAN need to have different subnets

e.g.
WAN 192.168.1.x

LAN 192.168.5.x

You ipad needs to connect to the LAN, then you can fix its IP

You will have to login to the router using the IP you changed to.
Then the settings you want are under connection then DHCP
Linksys WRT3200ACM
NETGEAR Nighthawk R7800
NETGEAR R6260

after changing the subnet address on your router you also need to reset the NIC on your PC. If your unsure how to do this just reboot your PC

Thanks. I rebooted PC to reset NIC and still cannot log into the gargoyle router, which i thought i had changed its subnet address to 192.168.5.1 from 192.168.1.2 ...

Is there way to find out what the gargoyle router address is (if it is indeed unknown), as i may have saved to the firmware a different subnet address by mistake??

Thanks again for your support guys!!!! cheers

Plugging a PC into it, and issuing:
ipconfig /release
ipconfig /renew
ipconfig /all

Should trigger the NIC to force update its DHCP lease. And the final command should list all he details so you can find the router address.

if that fails you might need to do a failsafe router reset

Thanks for the adept advice guys!!! Cheers.

Have finally located the gargoyle routers' ip address as 192.168.5.1 using the above ipconfig commands. Nevertheless, after reconnecting the modem and router i run into the same issue - cannot access the gargoyle interface. However, when the ip address was 192.168.1.2(gargoyle router) and the modem was set at 192.168.1.1, i was able to access the router with no issues.

Discombobulated :(

Any ideas on what the issue is and how to resolve it????

Thanks again for your patience, time and advice.

Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?
TL-WDR3600 : Gargoyle 1.9.0 : NBN FixedWireless
