[Q] Upgrade from OpenWRT

Post by setham »

Hello,

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have a Buffalo Router Running OpenWRT (see below), I want to try Gargoyle for the QoS features, after a 30-30-30 reset can I perform an upgrade from the LuCI interface using the corrrsponding 1.7.1 or 1.6.2 "sysupgrade.bin" o do I need to do a TFTP upgrade?

This is my current installation:

Hostname wzr-hp-g300nh2
Model Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH2
Firmware Version OpenWrt Barrier Breaker 14.07 / LuCI Trunk (0.12+svn-r10530)
Kernel Version 3.10.49

Many thanks

Hi you dont need to do the 30 30 30 reset with Openwrt or Gargoyle.
It was a ddwrt thing and you dont have to do it with that anymore. I was told on the ddwrt forum it can brick your router.

the best way to reset a openwrt baste install is through ferstboot.

As far as i no you can just flash the sysupgrade from the gui.
Don't try and save settings.
Here is latest build of 1.7.1

I have moved from Openwrt to Gargoyle, and viceversa many times, using Sysupgrade, WebUI.
I like builds form @ispyisail here viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7227 unzip with 7Zip, I always reset to factory default OpenWrt before Sysupgrade and use static ip 192.168.1.2 on Lap

Thanks for your answers, doing the sysupgrade without keeping the config worked like a charm coming from OpenWRT (Barrier Breaker 14.07).

I had the router up and running in a couple of hours after manually moving dhcp list, firewall rules, etc.
