Specific, but noob, question

I'm (obviously) new here, and hoping for what I hope is an easy solution. The downside is, I tried a general search, and it kept saying that the search terms I'm using are too common, and as I read more and more in some of the stuff I could find that seemed close, I only got more and more confused. So here I am, hat in hand, hoping for some help.

I'm running a D-Link DIR-600 A1 with gargoyle_1.3.8-ar71xx-dir-600-a1-squashfs-factory loaded, and it seems to be working OK. I decided to give this a try after seeing that Gargoyle does, at least partly, what I want it to do, which is log Web Usage from specific IP's. I need to start doing this since my son is approaching that fun age that their hormones tell them they need to look at those naughty sites, and his mom is freaking out. He also has a friend who comes over and, we think, is using my son's laptop to look at some even worse sites.

What I'm hoping to do is, I think, fairly simple: I have his Macbook set at a static IP (say, 192.168.1.5), and my Windows 7 desktop at another static IP (say 192.168.1.4). I'd like to set a script of some sort (either on the router or on the Windows machine) so that the usage logs download on a regular schedule to the Windows 7 machine, even when I'm not here to supervise the download. How easy/difficult an option is something like this?

Please keep in mind that while I'm reasonably computer literate, I don't have a lot of coding experience, and my Linux experience is not at all recent, and I barely remember any of it. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!

i'd suggest something along the lines of grab files, email to self, as a cronjob

Hi if you cant get the files emailed to you or download them, you could try opendns.

The Parental Controls are good I use them I have 5 kids and 1 is 16 so they block a lot lol
You can use winscp to download the files from your router.
PS you mite want to think about a update for that router 1.3 is old now there is SSL bugs in 1.3

I concur with tapper, the DNS solutions are superb.

I use Norton's ConnectSafe, it's similar to OpenDNS. I used to use OpenDNS FamilySafe. both are good services, and free to use for home use.

You can set the DNS in Gargoyle, and force the clients to use the router's DNS settings.

The DNS solution is a great "fence at the top of the cliff rather than ambulance at the bottom" type of solution.
