No internet access from 2nd wireless network.

Post by Radiorob »

I have a problem with gargoyle firmware ( I have tested ver. 1.6.2 oraz 1.7.0) on my TP-Link TL-WDR4300 v1. I have two router: TP-Link as main router (gate to WAN, DHCP serwer, main Wifi network, file server -> usb memory) and Sapido RB-1800 (with Realtek chipset, no Gargoyle support) acting as Universal Repeater Mode (Acting as AP and client simultaneouly). On Sapido is the 2nd wireless network ( TP-link ssid: abc, Sapido ssid abc1).
Before I moved to Gargoyle firmware on TP-Link, there had no problem with this configuration. Now, there is problem with wireless network abc1 (with LAN too, any device connected to Sapido) have not internet access.
Any device connected to TP-Link (via LAN or WiFi) have internet access.
Strange, that any device connected to Sapido can access e.g. USB disk connected to TP-Link or any other computer, printer , TP-Link router ( configuration site via WWW) and resolve DNS. I have tried to discover routing (tracert). I can see only two hops:
1. Gargoyle.lan [192.168.10.1] (LAN IP adres of TP-link)
2. Gargoyle.lan [192.168.10.1] reports: Destination protocol unreachable
Can anybody help me with this problem?
Thx

I don't see from the device's manual that the Sapido RB-1800 has any Universal Repeater Mode at all.

How does your configuration look like?

Yes, Sapido RB-1800 have URM.
You must choose Wifi AP mode in Operation Mode, than check the box in "Enable Universal Repeater Mode (Acting as AP and client simultaneouly) " field at the Wireless-> Basic settings. Now you can set the SSiD for secendary network in "SSID of Extended Interface".
Sapido RB 1800 worked in URM immaculately with TP WDR-4300 (with standard firmware). Is still working with WDR-4300 with Gargoyle, only there no internet conection from Sapido Wifi ( but i have connection to other PC in my network, i have access to WDR-4300, usb disk too).

Without direct experience with this setup - I would guess that the Gateway IP address setup in the Sapido device is erroneous. The Gateway address on the Sapido (manual or auto) needs to be 291.168.10.1.
Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

The Gateway address on the Sapido is 192.168.10.1.
I can ping any IP(DNS works) adress in Internet from computer in "Sapido" network. I can access any client in my network (for example: usb disk at TP-Link).
But I have tried to discover routing (tracert). I can see only two hops:
1. Gargoyle.lan [192.168.10.1] (LAN IP adres of TP-link, gateway)
2. Gargoyle.lan [192.168.10.1] reports: Destination protocol unreachable

Something in Gargoyle (1.6x, 1.7.x) is blocking access to WAN. With orginal TP-Link firmware it was working (TP-link as router, Sapido AP ->uniwersal repeater). I can return to orginal TP-Link firmware but I prefer Gargoyle because TP-Link works stable and WiFi range is better.

So next I would be looking in your Gargoyle quota setup on your Gateway router. I had a simple wireless repeater and the Gargoyle quota system was treating the devices connected to the repeater as if they had the IP address of the repeater.

Thanx :) (treating the devices connected to the repeater as if they had the IP address of the repeater -> 99,9% exactly :D ) , but can you help me with quota system? Where can I find it on Gargoyle and how I can change it.

Yes, I found yesterday (just when I finished my last post) quotas in firewall section. I made simple rule: IP`s All, Active: Allways, Limits: NA/1024MB/10GB, Enabled: Yes (other parameters: default, only when exceeded Throttle Bandwidth).
I have tested, but without success. Something is blocking access from 2nd network to WAN (still the same information from tracert).
Have you used quotas rule with others parametres? Can you describe?
