Deleted Qos service clases Please Help

Post by bbrforever »

I tryed to SEtup my QOS and everytime i activate it i loose conection to all my devices. here is my set up

Im running Gargoyle 1.7.1 on a TL-Wa830RE v2

which is conected as a client to my moms house across the street.

with QOS deactivate i get 7mb Down and about 1.5 MB upload

with QOS activated under default setting i was geting about 3mb DOWn and 0.5 upload

I decided to modify my qos and now when i turn it on internet is gone .
I think i screwd up the holething .

What i need to achive is to be able to set up 3 groups im sharing my internet with both my next door neighboors but when they download everything slows down. thats why 3 groups would be nice . i need 60% of the bandwith for my home// 20% for one neighboor and 20% for my other neighboor. and limit my conection to my moms house to 5MB and 1mb upload.

PLEASE ANY HELP WILL BE APRECIATED

There's something definitely wrong with your service classes. They don't add to 100%.
When you save your settings they should be updating to 100% so if this isn't happening id say reset the router because something isn't right.

As an aside. Your internet setup is very bizarre lol.

This is probably because of your first three rules. You have set download source to an internal ip address (192.168.2.X).
bbrforever wrote:i need 60% of the bandwith for my home// 20% for one neighboor and 20% for my other neighboor.
For this you will probably require 3 service classes, ME=60%BW, Neighbour1=20%BW, Neighbour2=20%BW.
bbrforever wrote:limit my conection to my moms house to 5MB and 1mb upload.
For this you could set Total Download Bandwidth: 5000kbits/sec & Total (Upload) Bandwidth: = 1000kbits/sec

Not really. The download source is used if you want to limit the total MB download or bandwidth from source youtube or whatever.

Suggest that this scenario might help: http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/dok ... udenthouse

I suggest that you:
nworbnhoj wrote:require 3 service classes, ME=60%BW, Neighbour1=20%BW, Neighbour2=20%BW.

set Total Download Bandwidth: 5000kbits/sec & Total (Upload) Bandwidth: = 1000kbits/sec
And then assign static IPs to the devices in your house and your neighbours. Group the static IP's into a range for you and for each of your neighbours. Finally create a QoS rule for your static IP range (ie 192.168.2.160-192.168.2.170) and assign it to the ME class (and similar for each of the neighbours)

Perfect i got it but since i dont want to intrude into my neighboors computers ,laptop or tablets. will adding a second wifi router conected to thru a switch that hooks up to a LAN port on my 830RE v2 do the job ?

by only asigning 40% to the second AP ip adress . will that make it 40% for all traffic coming from my neighboors.

my 2 desktop computers are already connected onto my switch directly using LAN.

not sure if i explained my self correctly. please ecuse my bad english.

( I would of course have to set my second APs DHCP on ) and set the rule of QOS to run on that range .

I think I appreciate what you are trying to achieve, but keeping things as simple as possible is very wise IMHO.

Yes, but you will not be able to limit each neighbour to their 20% with this arrangement.

You can remove all the Home Rules at the top as you have set the Default Class to Home already. That means all unmatched traffic will automatically fall into this class already.

For QoS Download, the IP should usually go into the Destination field (Use the Source field on Upload QoS).
