Hitron CGN3 crashes with multiple repeaters

I am having problems setting up multiple repeaters on my network.
My main wireless router/gateway is a Hitron CGN3 supplied by my service provider. This thing has quite a bad reputation when not bridged to a separate router, but for me so far it has been ok.

I have two routers with Gargoyle installed: one is a DLink DIR-601 with Gargoyle version 1.4.7 and the second is a TP-LINK TL-WR841N with Gargoyle version 1.6.2. Either one of these routers ALONE works just fine with the CGN3 - they are set up as a repeater and connect to my network on the same channel (but currently broadcast a separate SSID).

The real fun begins when I try running both repeaters at the same time with both connecting to the main router. My entire network comes down and when it restarts my network name has changed! This last time the CGN3 changed my SSID to the SSID password - AWESOME! I hope my neighbors saw that! The SSID could be changed throught the router admin panel but some other problems (like broadcasting unnamed networks) could only be fixed by restarting.

Anyway, I know this is not really a Gargoyle problem but was wondering if anyone has seen anything similar?

Sounds a bit ugly on the side of the Hitron!

I wonder if the problem is related to channel interference. The following post contains a very informative article IMHO.

Thanks. I wondered about interference too but didn't know much about it. There are quite a few networks around here, each channel (1, 6, and 11) having at least 2 or 3 SSIDs being broadcast. I tried swapping the channel but had the same problems.

My final solution was to wire the TPLink router and use it as an access point. On the dLink I have disabled the repeater as all the clients that need to connect through it are wired. Fingers are crossed, but so far so good!
