A simple request (hopefully)
Hi everyone,
I need help with something that might be easy.
I need to block the following keyword for all connected hosts "dumb ways to die"
How can I do this on gargoyle?
Thanks!

Re: A simple request (hopefully)
Gargoyle cannot currently block sites by keyword.
But under Firewall - Restrictions - Access Restrictions you can manually block specific domains or urls at quite a granular level.
You can also use the options under Status - Web Monitor Preferences to discover sites that meet your criteria to be blocked.
hope it helps

Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

Thanks for the info.
Do you know if maybe a plug-in would do this?
I heard of something called privoxy I believe that does this, but on ddwrt.
The problem is, my friend kids love those videos and a keyword filter would help, instead of blocking the whole site, in this case youtube.
Thanks again.

Re: A simple request (hopefully)
Gargoyle does not have a plugin for keyword restrictions to my knowlege.
You can however block specific URL's ie https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJNR2EpS0jw
Also, Firewall - Quotas can block a specific site (ie youtube.com) at a particular time (ie 4pm-8pm) for particular users (ie kids).

Re: A simple request (hopefully)
You could install privoxy. It takes up quite a bit of flash and ram though.
There's plenty of tutorials.
You'll have to do it yourself, there's no "plugin" per se.

Yes, just found this write up http://www.pakitong.com/2014/02/openwrt ... k.html?m=1.
The router is a net gear wndr 3800 v2 I believe, does this one has enough ram for this?
Or maybe another plug in or add on that is not that memory hungry?
Maybe remove some of the stuff already installed, like tor, dlna server, etc, to make space if needed?

Hi cant you just let them wotch dumb ways to die? I wood let my kids wotch it. My kids are 5 8 13 and 15. If that's not ok then you can try blocking the URLs to the vidios. using privoxy is not grate wen i tryed to do it on 1.6.2 it used a lot of ram and crashed a lot.

Sadly, this kid is autistic and the parents are concerned that he will take it to another level. He seems fixated on those things and is kind of scary.
Re: A simple request (hopefully)
are you sure you have a v2 of the wndr3800? http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/netgear/wndr3800 only lists v1.
If the specs are the same, then you should have plenty of flash and ram to give privoxy a go.
i'm guessing this is being implemented at a router level and not on the end users PC due to circumvention?

Yes, you are correct, the router is a 3700 v2, not a 3800.
