Internet drops on WR1043ND
I have seen quite a few people reporting frequent drops of their internet connectivity on the 1043ND v1 and v2, but no one seems to have an answer. My parents, my sister, and I all signed up for Exede internet at the same a little over a year ago. Once it was connected, I set up all three houses with 1043ND's (v1) running Gargoyle 1.5.9. The only settings that I touched were to set up the wifi (SSID and WPA2 password), I set up quotas to make sure no one went over on their usage, and I set them all to reboot weekly. All three systems ran problem free until late November/early December 2014. That was when the drops started. All three houses at the same time. I changed my router to a 1043ND v2 running 1.6.2, but am still experiencing the same issue. I have a hard time believing that all the routers started experiencing hardware issues or that Gargoyle spontaneously starting having issues on all three at the same time. Is it possible that there is some sort of incompatibility between Exede's firmware and Gargoyle?

Interesting post! Are your connectivity drops on WAN, LAN and/or WiFi?
Can you help someone else get Gargoyle up and running?

The drops all seem to be on the WAN side. I can still login to Gargoyle from any device connected, but there is no internet connectivity.
Re: Internet drops on WR1043ND
Login to the web page of your DSL modem and check the logs there. If you see the link is going up and down then your router is not to blame.
DSL links are famous for dropping IMHO having had one for 10 years. They are based on old copper lines often not well maintained. Especially this can happen in poor weather.

This is a satellite modem, not DSL. Regardless, I have logged into the modem, but there are no logs as far as I can see. It does show that cable resistance, power, satellite signal, etc. are all good. The drops that occur during inclement weather last longer than the ones we are currently experiencing, not to mention that this has been happening for a good 3 months. And keep in mind that all three houses started having the same issues at the same time.

Re: Internet drops on WR1043ND
On all 3? We did check the power supply at our house, just to be sure, and it's fine.
Re: Internet drops on WR1043ND
It often only takes a small spike or brown-out to upset a router or modem. If all three houses are in the same region then they may be on the same power-grid. Lightning strikes, electric fences or a big load starting up (big pump, big refrigeration plant, welder) can be the culprits in remote rural areas.nworbnhoj wrote:power supply blips?

Do they have static IPs or are they changing? If they change then ddns mite be the ancer. What do you have to do the get them back on again? Or they just short drop oupts.
