PPPoE connection dropping

Post by NickLavic »

I bought a TP-Link TL-WR1043ND v2 about a month ago and replaced the firmware with Gargoyle v1.7.0, I got everything up and running fine until 3 days ago where the internet connection kept dropping. I'd have a connection for 2-5 seconds, then it would drop for 1-20 minutes and kept doing that over and over. Our router connects to the internet via a microwave dish using PPPoE authentication.

At first I thought it was a problem on the ISP's side, but when I set up a direct connection from my laptop to the dish, bypassing the router, it worked without any problem.

I originally bought the TP-Link router to replace my old D-link router, I planned to use the latter as a wireless access-point. I'm currently using the old D-link as the "modem" and using the TP-link as an access-point, which leads me to believe that only the PPPoE connection feature isn't working.

Any idea how to fix this problem?

Alright, thanks.
I guess I'll downgrade to 1.6.2 and see if that works.
UPDATE: Yup, that did the trick, thanks again.
