Wireless drops out after a few hours/days

Post by drz »

Hi all,

I'm running two TP Link WR841N v9.1s (Gargoyle v1.7.0). One is AP+WDS, one is WDS Client.

Setup works great (awesome throughput) until a certain point at which the Wifi on the WDS Client seems to stop working (I don't drop the connection/signal, however LAN/WAN seems to slow to a halt). I get the following error and only a reboot of the WDS client seems to bring things back to normal.

I have found a different bug to due with the bandwidth monitor that caused routers to crash (I fixed by disabling BWMON service). Any thoughts?

Have you tried this version of 1.6.2

http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... =14&t=6356

Its the most stable version ever (in my opinion)

SPooky will post logread next time it happens. Wireless settings are attached.

(thinking it could be because I am re-broadcasting same SSID?)

ispyisail, does v1.6.2 support Tp link wr841v9? I was under the impression support first started in OpenWRT BB

I can confirm this problem, i am too use wr-841N V9 as wireless bridge/repeater, on high torrent activity (or sometimes just in the middle of nothing) it freezes, WiFi and LAN do not respond and i can't even enter the web interface, only powering it off and on helps. I had this same problem on my previous wr-841N V7, that died after 3 years (no wonder). Thing is - for V7 version of router 1.5.6-1.6.0 versions of Gargoyle used to work stable as it gets - no hangs, no freezes. Sadly for V9 i can't use 1.6.0 simply because it does not exist and latest 1.7.1 (now i'm running gargoyle-ispy 2015-March-27 which works pretty much the same as 1.7.1 stable) works as described in this topic. Any debug info i can provide - please instruct me and i will gladly do it.

I have the same problem with TP-link router on both 1.7.0 and 1.7.1. If anything it's worse on 1.7.1.

Wired networking doesn't have the problem.
