Just flashed my router; suspicious activity?

Post by whatshappening »

Hi,

I just flashed my TL-WR1043ND v1 router with Gargoyle because I was having stability issues and I have to say this firmware seems pretty solid.

Although I have noticed slower wireless speeds compared to stock.. could it be the channel I'm on or because of bgn mode? Surprised there isn't an option to auto select a channel and just "n" for the latter.

Anyway, the main reason for this post is because I noticed something a little off. There are only 2 devices on my network, but there's a third shown under DHCP leases. What could it be? I literally just flashed the router and selected WPA2 security with a relatively strong pass phrase and hidden SSID so I doubt I've been hacked.

Oh, and also there are 2 department of defense IP's under "hosts with active connections". What the hell? I'm in Canada of all places.

Thanks for reading and hopefully you might be able to shed some light on this mystery. :)

I periodically get those 10. addresses showing up too

Here's one 10.126.23.1. Apparently it's a private IP, but why? I don't use that range and neither does my ISP AFAIK, at least I had never seen it before.. my modem get assigned a dynamic public address.
