hi all
Been using gargoyle (1.6 now) for quite some time on numerous installations however rather oddly and as often reported on this forum, the router on some installations decides to go into a reboot loop. It negotiates a PPPoE connection (Gateway mode to a PPPoA modem in bridge mode), gets an IP address and a ping -t to any external site is fine for literally around 40 pings, then the router reboots. Then the process repeats.
I'm aware of how to factory reset, using the unbrick method etc, but in terms of configuring the device via Telnet, i've not found a solution. The router has most features switched off, inc wifi and QoS, but nothing seems to get it to come back to life without a clean wipe.
It's a very common problem according to these forums, but short of spending too much of my life fiddling around inside a £30 router, does anyone have a proper fix/know the source of this issue?
Great implementation of OpenWRT but would love a fix to this problem. If it turns out to be a hardware fault, then fair enough!
Advice appreciated.
Best
