How to use TFTP to flash a wrt54g

Post by lwrver2 »

I have a WRT54g with Gargoyle that is stuck in boot mode. It appears that using TFTP is the only practical way to reflash this one since I cannot get to the setup menu. From the various support forums there are numerous suggestions but no details of the TFTP command structure. Nothing I have tried appears to work, so I must not be using the proper commands. I need to run TFTP from Linux, so there are some basic linux procedures to follow. I can activate terminal mode from the folder where the Gargoyle firmware is stored and ping and connect to the router at 192.168.1.1, but I can not execute any commands. There must be a tftp user guide posted somewhere. Any suggestions?

How about reading the Wiki on this site where this procedure is documented in detail?

If yo have problems make sure to post data on exactly what step you are having trouble with and what error message you are getting.
