Fon Flash
I am attempting to follow the directions on how to flash a Fon router to DD-WRT and am not having any success. I have a regular, unflashed router that I am trying to flash with FW 1.02 r3. The program just repeats "No Packet", even if the router is connected.

Re: Fon Flash
What Fonera model is this?
Fon 2100? 2201?
Have you ever accessed redboot on it?
To use Fon Flash, you have to do this:
1) Have computer plugged directly into Fon via ethernet
2) Load Fon Flash, choose the rootfs and boot-loader
(I'm currently using 1.0.15 - most stable release)
3) Unplug the power from the Fon
4) Start Fon Flash and it should say no-packet repeating
5) Plug in the Fon
6) Fon Flash should catch the redboot and start flashing it.
If you're still having issues, please supply more hardware info
as well as what operating system you're running, etc.

Re: Fon Flash
This is a 2100 FON router. I am attempting to flash DD-WRT onto the router. I am running Win7 Ultimate x64. I am having the issue because Fon Flash can't seem to ever pick up redboot through Ethernet.
I have managed to connect vis SSH and enable it forever. I have never telneted into it.
I was able to do a hard reset to downgrade to 0.7.1

Re: Fon Flash
If you enabled the redboot, try and perform this command
Telnet into the router and perform the command:
fis init -f
that will completely wipe the flash portion of the router out
except for the redboot portion
That way, the router can't boot into the Fon software and it
should be MUCH easier to catch the redboot with Fon Flash.
Side Note: You might have to use the Win XP virtual machine
option for Windows 7 and use that to flash.
Fon Flash might not recognize the 64 bit OS / 64 bit drivers

Re: Fon Flash
Every time I try to telnet into the router, the connection simply times out.

I tried it on a Win XP computer and got these results:
Reading image file D:\Documents and Settings\Connor.LIVINGROOM-XP\Desktop\linux.bin with 6729728 bytes, rounded to 0x00670000
No packet.

No packet.
Peer MAC: 00:18:84:22:d2:f8

Telnet for RedBoot not enabled.

Re: Fon Flash
When you're trying to catch the redboot via telnet, you're
trying to telnet to 192.168.1.1 port 9000 correct?
You only have 2 seconds to catch the redboot when doing telnet
Timing is the key, its really hard to catch it.

Re: Fon Flash
If it says "telnet for Redboot not enabled", that means it won't work as-is. Look up one of the guides for "unlocking" a fonera. Follow that, so you have telnet access to Redboot. Then try running Fon Flash again.

Check out that site - its got great info on hacking the Fon.
Should show you how to get redboot enabled.

Is another good site for assistance.

Re: Fon Flash
I got to step "2" on http://www.fonerahacks.com/index.php/Tu ... dboot.html and after I imputed all of the commands and let it reboot, it no longer boots all of the way. I cannot connect via Wireless or SSH to enable Telnet.
The connection always times out using Putty
The only lights that go on are the "Power" and "Internet"" lights. The "Wireless" light remains off.
