USB Printer shows as not attached

Post by pfong »

I am trying to hook up my Brother MFC-8440 to my TL-WDR3600. I've tried Gargoyle 1.5.11 and 1.6.0. Under the USB Printer page it always shows "No USB printers are currently attached to the router."

The USB LED on the router lights up and I see in dmesg:
usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 3 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04F9 pid 0x015F

/dev/usb/lp0 is there.

So it seems the USB connection is working.
How do I get Gargoyle to recognize it?

I don't need the scanning part to work. I'd be happy with just printing.

I made it work by manually editing /etc/config/p910nd to enable port 1 and restarting p910nd.
I also did /etc/init.d/p910nd enable.

Under what circumstances will these changes get overwritten and I'll need to do it again? Reboots? Firmware upgrades?
