PPPoE WAN bug?
Firstly, many thanks for this great and easy to use firmware. I just have a small problem or maybe found a bug. When rebooting/starting the router it looks like the WAN PPPoE connection is not starting automatically. I have to save the connection settings again to get a WAN IP and internet. A possibility to disconnect/reconnect the PPPoE session at specified times (because my dsl provider has 36h forced disconnect) would also be welcome
Re: PPPoE WAN bug?
I noticed this when I first installed this on my WRT54GL (I had to save the connection page to get it to reconnect), but I only used that for a few hours - reason being I was trying new firmware as the router just died... I had been using DD-WRT. I liked this so much I just bought an Asus WL-500gPv2 and am using Gargoyle on that. I have not yet noticed this issue on it but then again I've only been using the router a day. I'll keep my eye out.
Re: PPPoE WAN bug?
i can confirm this bug too. but it's not majorly annoying me at this stage.
Re: PPPoE WAN bug?
I will definitely look into this, but I should warn you that I don't have any way to (easily) test a PPPoE connection. I may have to setup a custom server to connect to, to try to figure out what is going on, and there are a few other things (particularly issues with bandwidth monitor/quotas) which have priority.

Re: PPPoE WAN bug?
Yep same here, was doing it on 1.06, 7, 8,
PPPoE wouldn't start until I went to the page and just saved settings without changing anything, then it connected and got IP
I have not updated yet to latest to test that

Re: PPPoE WAN bug?
Just want to follow up with this issue. because the problem of WAN not automatically re-connect still exists in 1.12. And since I have upgraded to 1.12 my connection drops more often than my previous 1.08 version and not reconnecting causes me not able to ssh back from work.
anyone can confirm this problem still exists?

Re: PPPoE WAN bug?
This happens for me too, but as my connection hardly ever drops it hasn't been a big problem. After a reboot the connection won't come up until I go to the connection page and save. Sometimes I see a WAN IP of 10.64.64.64 (I think that's it, from memory).
I have tried both Connect On Demand and Keep Alive settings.
Using Gargoyle Version 1.1,2, WRT54GL and NB5 modem in bridge mode.

Re: PPPoE WAN bug?
Actually, it seems to have gone away for me, after my previous post it had started happening but then stopped after one of the firmware updates
Re: PPPoE WAN bug?
Eric,
I use a PPPOE connection and I seem to have a reproducable situation regarding this problem. In my setup I notice that I have this problem if I my router does a power-up boot. If I reboot the router from the System page I do not have this problem. Also the problem can be resolve by using the "Save Changes" button on the Connections->Basic page.
In /etc/ppp/options I pointed the log file to /tmp and got the following output after a powerup boot.
The log file from a warm reboot looks like:
Its seems that there is a timing issue here which is causing this problem. Not sure what a PADO packet is but perhaps the interface is not ready to communicate yet with the modem.
In both the above cases I have my modem in "Bridge" mode and the modem was not reset. In other words the ADSL link was active the whole time.
Hopefully this info can help us get to the bottom of this issue. If you have any ideas you would like me to test let me know.
