Application (Layer7) Protocol

Post by badhon_raj »

Can anyone please explain Application (Layer7) Protocol in QoS download/upload?
There are only a few app is listed there. How do I add an app that is not on the list?

That explains something but sadly I'm having a hard time understanding exactly what I should do to add something in Gargoyle.
Moreover I'm pretty bad at regex.
Can you please tell me what I should do to add "internet download manage / IDM" to the list for example?
Thanks.

If you are not good at REGEX you should probably not mess with L7 matching.

In additional L7 matching is known to be unreliable and ineffective.

But new patterns can be added to the file /etc/l7-protocol/l7index and will then show in the UI.
