So I installed the Gargoyle router a couple days ago. I launched my personal checkbook accounting program ("Quicken" by Intuit) and went to my bank's website to fetch the recent transactions in my checking account. This is something I do every few days.
But Quicken would not load the new data -- it said it could not connect to my banking institution. I think that the software does handshaking with the bank to confirm stuff. I've tried this a few times now, but same result.
Um, near as I can tell, the router should not be blocking the opening of any outgoing ports that an app on my machine may request. I have not changed any of the firewall rules on my machine (XP).

Re: SOLVED Banking software cannot connect to bank
SOLVED. Or at least the the problem isn't due to the Gargoyle router. I re-installed the old router and the problem persist. Sigh -- a mystery issue to sort out.
