I have just installed the latest ROOTer firmware on my WNDR3700v1.
ROOTer version Huntsman 20130618 based on OpenWRT Version R36954
I tried to install gargoyle using the installing packages method.
But the info was from Kamikaze so I guess it's not up to date.
ROOTer is also a specialised fw so using the fw install method is not really feasible.
ROOTer fw is working just fine for my needs. (using a 4G USB modem)
Is there a way of installing Gargoyle on my install?

Do not install Gargoyle as packages - not advisable
It's not as simple as just installing packages, you will have to manually
edit/tweak configs, etc.
Gargoyle is meant to be installed as a firmware image
Gargoyle also overrides Luci and some UCI setups
