HELP! for another WR1043ND

Post by BenJi2D »

Hi there guys. I'm tottaly new to this kind of stuff, which I did not knew even exist. I'm doing this because my WR1043 (1-2 motnhs old) keeps disconecting all the devices in my house and I need to reboot/plug off-plug in power, to regain my internet conenction. I've tried normal uptade software, changing channels and other things.
Many people on forums say that Gargoyle software wiped their problems so I want to try it, the problem is -

Error code: 18005 Upgrade unsuccessfully because the version of the upgraded file was incorrect. Please check the file name.

Before I start to rename file and try other things I want to ask You, because I don't have the money to brick my router AND I see, here in this forum, that a LOT of people already bricked their WR1043ND.

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/tl-wr1043nd

Read through that whole page - all of it

Read through the whole thing again - then analyze the info compared
to the hardware version of your WR1043ND

All the info on that OpenWRT page applies to Gargoyle firmware images
because Gargoyle has OpenWRT underneath

As far as bricking a router - it's almost impossible to do that with
the newer routers as they all have some type of recovery mode via
TFTP, or Serial, or a mix of both

If you don't think you can recover a router from a bad flash, don't
even try to flash 3rd party firmware

I've been flashing routers for over 10 years and I've never bricked a
router but I have had to serial recover quite a few

It's NOT likely - but it can happen that a firmware upgrade fails

2x Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH V1 A0D0 = Gargoyle 1.9.x / LEDE 17.01.x
2x Engenius - ESR900 Stock 1.4.0 / OpenWRT Trunk 49400

Try renaiming the name of the firmware in something short (few characters), then try again.

Try this. It's the right answer.

I tried to shorten the name even to one character, still Error 18005. When I have time I'll read all of the information on the provided link and then I'll try again.

Try updating your router to the latest Official TP-Link ROM first.
And then upgrade it to gargoyle.

I had to do this recently in order to get this router to work on gargoyle too.

Hope it helps...

PM me if you need to buy Gargoyle router in Australia/NZ, willing to pay me to help you on your Gargoyle configurations or build custom configured ROM with pre-installed app or try to fix your bricked router. Yes, I am looking for job/work.
