Cannot install kmod-mppe since 1.5.10

I've just retruned to Gargoyle from OpenWRT now 1.5.10 is based on the latest OpenWRT but I cannot install kmod-mppe to allow me to use pptp vpn clients. I used to have to specify --force-depends to install it in 1.5.9 but that no longer works and I get an error message saying the kernel is marked as hold.

Anyone got any ideas how I install it?

ok - have gotten around it by installing opkg (gpkg install opkg) and using opkg to install the package
