Linksys WRT54GS - IP Problem

Post by John_A »

Hi,

I successfully installed Gargoyle on an old Linksys WRT54GS with the intention of using it as a wireless bridge.

I initially installed it through the original firmware update procedure, and everything went well.

However, once in the Gargoyle admin I changed some settings in the IP configuration which, it seems, were wrong (was looking at http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/lib ... bridge.jpg) and now I can't log into it at all, and it doesn't seem to be doing anything (i.e. lights flash but no wifi coming from it).

When I'm connected to it (via laptop with Win XP and network cable to LAN 1) a ipconfig /all reports the following for the network configuration: -

DHCP Enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration Enabled: Yes
Autoconfiguration IP Address: 169.254.129.165
Subnet Mas: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: (BLANK)

I've tried connecting to 192.168.1.1 and 192.168.1.5 in the browser and nothing...I guess I entered something wrong when I submitted it but don't know what, and now have no idea how to get back to where I was.

Any help would be much appreciated!

EDIT: I've tried the reset button, evern 30/30/30 reset, but that does nothing. If I put a cable from one of the ports of my main router (Virgin Media branded, I think Netgear - IP range 192.168.0.xxx) to the internet port of the Linksys, it shows up in "connected devices" with an IP of 192.168.1.5 but I still can't browse to it.
