Bandwidth per user possible?

Post by leegold »

Hi,

Can Gargoyle give bandwidth usage statistics per user? Eg. I want to know the mac address or client name (or some unique id) of each user who used the router to access the internet and how much bandwidth they used. That would be fantastic if that's possible. Maybe a log file?

Thanks,

Lee G.

I guess I'm answering my own question:

Seems what I want (?) and is doable for me. Still I would be interested if Gargoyle did this out of the box...

Thanks

You can already do something like this, and I'm moving toward a feature like what you want.

Right now you can monitor individual IP addresses, but you first have to set a static IP address for the hardware (MAC) address of any computer you want to minitor. Then you can select the IP you want from the dropdowns in the Status/ Bandwidth page to see the consumption.

I've been fixing small annoyances / minor bugs lately, but this feature is the first on my list of major new features I'm going to implement once this round of bug fixes is done. This is the main reason I completely re-implemented the bandwidth monitor last month.
