WNDR3700v2 Unable to connect after flashing

Post by SeekN »

Hi all,

I have recently flashed Gargoyle on my router (WNDR3700v2). After flashing it, however, my router could no longer connect to the internet (flashes an orange light, while it should be green). No wiring has been changed at all since before and after flashing it.

My wiring (I hope it's called like that) is like this:

Wall (20mbit ADSL connection)
--UTP cable (2m, came with the modem)--
Modem/router received from ISP
--LAN cable (10m bought from a store)--
Own router (WNDR3700v2)

I can access the Gargoyle GUI just fine. I can also change settings.
I have only changed the following:
Set DHCP (wired)
Enabled 2.4Ghz wireless, disabled 5Ghz wireless
Other settings unchanged

Please advise, thank you!

If you are using a ADSL modem then you should be using PPPoE as your connection type, not DHCP static. You want your modem/router to be in bridge mode.

What was the connection type before your made the change to DHCP static?

There is a Wiki http://www.gargoyle-router.com/wiki/dok ... adsl_modem you should read.

recently flashed Gargoyle 1.4.7 over DD-wrt on a Dlink 615 C1. Works great. Wan connection set as DHCP, like ive used with anyotherr firmwares on any router with Telus DSL. Tried 1.5.9 and will not recieve wan ip. I now found this info which should fix the problem but will i lose any features. Thought i saw someones post about losing some QOS extras off the GUI when in anything but DHCP, which i cant do cause the bandwidth control was my reason to use Gargoyle. Lovin it. When a firmware arrives for the Atheros 9xxx ill be even happier.

Hi all,

Thanks for replying. Sadly, I am still unable to connect to the internet using the flashed Router. I have tried the following:

-Setting it as PPPoE didn't work. On the older firmware I didn't need to enter a username or password either and I believe it used to be set as DHCP on the old firmware. (third and last wired setting didn't work either)
-I viewed the page about ADSL modems, but I couldn't locate the file on the router (/etc/ppp/ip-up.d/modemaccess.sh).
-I tried setting the flashed router as a wireless bridge/repeater. This didn't allow me to access the internet either.
-I downgraded from 1.5.9 to 1.4.7 as mentioned before and tried all the steps above again. None worked, sadly.

Before I had direct internet (on the old firmware) simply by plugging in the cable in the proper port (labled as internet).
