Direct flashing my router

Post by SeekN »

Hi all,

I am trying to flash Gargoyle onto my router (WNDR3700v2). Sadly my hardware knowledge are mediocre at best. I am not completely certain how to directly flash Gargoyle onto my router. I have a "hunch" that it is simply upgrading my router with the correct .img file. But as most hunches, it's not completely certain. The installation guide on this website mentioned I could also use openWRT Kamikaze to do this. I am completely lost on that website, however. When I visit the download page on that website, I get a list of folders with names I am unfamiliar with.

Can anyone confirm whether my hunch is correct? (The hunch being: simply use the router upgrade function from the Router UI)

In the scenario that it is not correct, could I ask any of you to explain to me how I can directly flash or download and use openWRT? (please explain as simply as possible :?)

Thank you!

http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/netgear/wndr3700

You can follow the info on that page.

Download this image:

gargoyle_1.5.9-ar71xx-generic-wndr3700v2-squashfs-factory.img

And from the Netgear stock GUI - you can flash that firmware

TFTP is another option but is much trickier

2x Asus RT-N16 = Asus 3.0.0.4.374.43 Merlin
2x Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH V1 A0D0 = Gargoyle 1.9.x / LEDE 17.01.x
2x Engenius - ESR900 Stock 1.4.0 / OpenWRT Trunk 49400

Thanks DoesItMatter! I already downloaded the image file and that page is quite useful. I'll try to flash my router tomorrow when the shops are open (incase I brick my current one :P)
