I have been using dd-wrt for about 5 years. I got tired of constant bugs and performance issues no matter the version I use with my Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH.
About a week ago I migrated to Gargoyle and I am very happy with the wireless performance, stability, and interface performance! The down side of moving to Gargoyle are features.
One feature I really want is the ability to easily manage firewall rules. I do not want to manage iptables rules manually. I did some looking around and http://www.fwbuilder.org looks like an excellent solution! fwbuilder provides a desktop GUI (similar to checkpoint) to manage rules, then allows you to push policy to router on demand. fwbuilder supports, among other devices, OpenWRT.
Has anyone used fwbuilder with Gargoyle?
If yes, What precautions did you take to ensure the stock Gargoyle features kept working?
Any other general recommendations for managing firewalls rules would be apreciated.
