Hello all,
I'm a complete newbie, but I don't mind the learning curve. I'm just interested in playing around... I was hoping if one of you could point me in the right direction. I wanted to remove unwanted packages/plug-ins from a firmware that I'm using and, if possible, add something else. How would I go about adding and removing packages from a gargoyle firmware? Also, I'd like to save the removed packages to my PC, just in case I did something stupid, so I can put it back the way it was.
Thank you,
genome
Add/remove packages?

Re: Add/remove packages?
You cannot remove any packages from the basic Gargoyle builds which are published without breaking things.
You can add new packages if you have space available on your router.
You do not need to save the provided default packages of Gargoyle. Regardless of what you do you can always run 'firstboot' from the command line and restore you system to its original configuration.

Looks like you have 16mb of flash so you should have space to install
extra packages on your router.
See this:
http://wiki.openwrt.org/doc/howto/vpn.server.pptpd
Is that what you are looking for?
or also this page:

If you add packages - ignore the options to add Luci support as
you CANNOT have Luci and Gargoyle at the same time - won't work!

Re: Add/remove packages?
wow, talk about technical!!
One more question, before i lose my internet, due to killing my router via noobiness!
after the PPTP server is installed, would be possible to control/manage it via the gargoyle gui?
Thanks for the links and info!!

Re: Add/remove packages?
You will have to do all your configuration via command line through putty

Thank you. How do I go about adding packages? Is there a repo of set packages from which I can add?pbix wrote:You cannot remove any packages from the basic Gargoyle builds which are published without breaking things.
