Firewall question

I just discovered this Site today and upgraded my WNDR3700.
installation was a breeze, and i LOVE IT!
Before i get to excited i have a novice question. The stock netgear firmware had a built in firewall that blocked all kinds of attacks, and would also show them. Does this also do the same, or am i wide open for attacks ?

I need to know more please. The stock firmware would show me a list of DOS attacks and so on. I see nothing like this with Gargoyle. Does it prevent DOS attacks and the like. Is Gargoyle firewall less than stock, the same, or better ?
