Time Not Updating (Gargoyle 1.5.7)

Post by Rumpadump »

Hello all,

Just bought a new router. The router's time displays 12/31/69 after installing Gargoyle. It's incorrect and won't update.

Hardware = Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH2
Firmware = Gargoyle 1.5.7 (Atheros AR71XX architecture)

Here are the steps I have taken so far:

1. Downloaded appropriate Gargoyle firmware file (gargoyle_1.5.7-ar71xx-generic-wzr-hp-g300nh2-squashfs-tftp.bin).
2. Verified file's MD5 checksum (deb2bab1f9ce85bcb6e36b3718a3bf22).
3. Installed (via TFTP) the file on the router.
4. Noticed router's time was incorrect.
5. Downloaded and ran PuTTY to SSH into router.
6. Edited /etc/config/system to reflect changes suggested here http://www.gargoyle-router.com/phpbb/vi ... f=6&t=2410. Rebooted router.
7. Time hasn't changed, still incorrect.

Any suggestions on this issue?

The time should auto-update once you get a good internet connection

How do you have that configured?

Standard Gateway AP ?
:twisted: Soylent Green Is People! :twisted:
2x Asus RT-N16 = Asus 3.0.0.4.374.43 Merlin
2x Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH V1 A0D0 = Gargoyle 1.9.x / LEDE 17.01.x
2x Engenius - ESR900 Stock 1.4.0 / OpenWRT Trunk 49400

Hi DoesItMatter,

Thanks for the reply. My issue is resolved. Here is my setup:

Modem > DDWRT wireless router > Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH2 running Gargoyle. All connected via CAT6 ethernet cable.

My problem was I didn't change Internet/WAN (Connection > Basic > Internet/WAN) to Disabled. The Buffalo router is acting as a secondary wireless access point with the CAT6 ethernet from the Linksys connecting to LAN port 1 of the Buffalo router.

Now that Internet/WAN is Disabled, the time has set itself correctly.

Sorry for the false alarm!
