Invalid password

I install latest Gargoyle for my WR1043ND. Succesfully change password to my own. Login to webinterface is OK. Have this problem: When i want format unmounted USB this dialog want enter password. I enter same password as on login and dialog says: invalid password. Absolutely dont understand this behavior, so cannot format USB. All others functions is working, but format not. Please someone can help? Thanks.

A patch has been made but another user reported that there still may be problems?

I make sysupgrade, check try preserve settings, router rebooted, but problem with wrong password is the same. Why for all saints i need password when formatting USB key?

Gargoyle 1.5.7 moves to the newer "Attitude Adjustment" branch of OpenWRT. This includes newer wireless drivers, and support for many newer models of routers. However, the old settings are not compatible. Anyone who does try to preserve settings between the versions or restore from a backup from an older version will likely run into serious problems. You have been warned.

Also, while most of the core functionality has been tested, this release is more likely to have bugs, due to the significant underlying changes in OpenWRT. So, if you need something extra-stable this really isn't the release to try. (Neither is any on the Experimental branch, but this one is probably more problematic than most). Please do report all bugs in this thread or in the appropriate troubleshooting forums.

That's the bad news. The good news is that a bunch of new hardware is now supported (checkout the download page). Also, If you're having wireless troubles, it may be worth upgrading, as this release contains much newer versions of the wireless drivers.

Finally, the download page has been updated to display the newer Atheros-based router firmware images by default. The Broadcom firmware images (and others) are still there, of course, but since the newer Atheros routers are the best supported, these are now the default.

But i have version 1.5.7 installed previously. So i think it is OK.

Try to format the USB device from a Linux box.

If you don't have access to a linux machine, download one of the
many Linux live CD's (Ubuntu, Mint, etc)

Boot up with the live CD - run GPARTED, and repartition/format
the device with that

Thanks, but i want try function swap and sysroot on USB key. When i format this on linux in PC, how i correctly mount this, so Gargoyle can use it?

How big is the USB device?

I'd recommend this layout:

2 partitions - first partition swap (128mb)
second partition - ext3 format

Setup both as Primary partitions (no logical partitions!)

It should auto-mount.

Plug in the USB device, then reboot the router.

It should auto use swap and detect the Ext3 partition as well.

Always reboot the router when you plugin your USB device.

I've found it necessary for mounting sometimes, and also
it is DEFINITELY necessary for read/write permissions.
