Version 1.5.7 -- OpenWRT "Attitude Adjustment"

Re: Version 1.5.7 -- OpenWRT "Attitude Adjustment"
Still working great on my TP-Link TL1043ND 1.7
I don't use any of the fancy features like QoS - just as a basic router. It's working much better than the stock firmware and it has been up longer than the old 1.6.x Gargoyle firmware without needing a reboot.

If you look at the timeline from Backfire to Attitude Adjustment, pmerrill wrote:Any feedback on the Netgear 3700v2 performance and stability using V1.5.7? Should I wait for the final release? I'm really interested in wifi stability and range in the hopes it will improve over 1.4.6
I would not wait - you should try 1.5.7
Backup your config for 1.4.6 and save it
You cannot keep your old config with 1.5.7 and up - you have to
reconfigure from scratch - so may as well try it.
The wireless stability is amazing in Attitude Adjustment.

Re: Version 1.5.7 -- OpenWRT "Attitude Adjustment"
How does QoS work on 1.5.7? I do use it for my VoIP phone. It works well in 1.4.6.
I also use the firewall restrictions for some PCs connected to the router (turns some internet access on/off at the right time). Is that functionality ok in 1.5.7?

AA works great. Do not be paranoid, have problems with your server or launch a new beta soon. OpenWRT have ordered all the web for several days.Dragon31337 wrote:Hm. Does anyone know why 12.09 disappeared from openwrt.org?

Isn't it because of "attitude adjustment" instability?

Re: Version 1.5.7 -- OpenWRT "Attitude Adjustment"
QoS works but have the blank out bug I pointed out a few times in this and other threads earlier.pmerrill wrote:How does QoS work on 1.5.7? I do use it for my VoIP phone. It works well in 1.4.6.

Firewall works fine here but I noticed it do also suffer from the blank out bug, though not as frequent as QoS.
So far, it seems like the blank out QoS issue is not fixed yet even though many reported bugs here are already fixed... pending a new release, unless you build from source yourself.

Has anyone got this to work on a wzr-hp-g300nh2?
I have not been able to get it to work following the instructions in the wiki for the wzr-hp-g300nh. I have been able twice now to get the file gargoyle_1.5.7-ar71xx-generic-wzr-hp-g300nh2-squashfs-factory.bin over to /tmp using ssh. Both times the router has appeared to apply the new firmware and reboot only to leave the diag light blinking every couple of seconds and the router useless. I can restore the factory firmware using the instructions for unbricking this model on the DD-WRT website, I even tried those instructions to install 1.5.7 to no avail. Hope someone can point this noob in the right direction.

1) flash the WZR-HP-G300NH to the Professional Firmware from the
Buffalo Router website - the Professional firmware = pure DD-WRT
firmware version - and this one will allow you to flash the images
from OpenWRT / Gargoyle
2) Once you have DD-WRT firmware installed - don't setup anything
except for the user/password
3) From the DD-WRT GUI - flash this firmware build:
gargoyle_1.5.7-ar71xx-generic-wzr-hp-g300nh2-squashfs-factory.bin
Once you start the flash process - leave the router alone for
about 15-30 minutes - leave the computer and router alone
In about 20 minutes - check the router and see if the DIAG light
is flashing - if its not - try to login - from a new browser session -
to the 192.168.1.1 web page and see if Gargoyle shows up.

Re: Version 1.5.7 -- OpenWRT "Attitude Adjustment"
Upgraded my WR1043ND V1 to 1.5.7 and so far everything looks great. I just see some very minor issues, but I can't be sure they're not due to me being stubborn and keeping settings from 1.5.6.
1) Status tab does not show WAN IP/netmask/gateway anymore, just blanks, and DNS servers are listed twice (configured for Google DNS). Interestingly, the DynDNS logs show the right WAN IP.
2) TCP Timeout defaulted to a number around 40.000 for some reason. I don't know if that had any negative effects since I changed it right away to a more reasonable value.
3) opkg failed to get a list of the openwrt packages due to the trunk branch apparently being down, but the attitude_adjustment branch is still up. Is trunk really intended as the main package source or was that an oversight?
Other than that I can only thank the devs, amazing work as always.
