Slow download speed on TP-Link TL-WR1043ND

Hi All, I recently had a problem with my internet connection through my WR1043ND and thanks to the help of a fellow Gargoyle user I was able to solve the problem using a custom DNS. I entered 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as custom servers, and since then I have discovered that my download speed is considerably slower than before. Is this a side effect of custom DNS, or possibly something else?

Something else, DNS will not affect download speed.

If you're downloading stuff from a content distribution network then choosing a DNS that isn't geographically local can mean you are downloading from the "wrong" site for your location.
