per user download quota monitoring

Post by AF35 »

Hi Guys,

I have a WRT54GL and recently discovered this firmware for it. what a brilliant firmware that does what I always wanted to do: QoS and quota monitoring!
As alot of you might be the same as me that shares internet with housemates etc. this is a feature none of the other firmwares has really satisfied my need and i really appreciate some developer has finally focus on this area.

Now, the total bandwidth usage field is exactly what I wanted: monitoring download and upload in day to day basis. However, I'd really like to see if the usage meter can be used to display the same thing but per static IP based. maybe have a drop down and let me choose which static IP to display etc. in this case I can finally fairly share our internet within the house and don't have to guess who downloaded how much and chewed up the total quota of the month.

Again thanks heaps for this firmware. i really appreciate your effort!

If you have static IPs set, there is already a dropdown in the bandwidth monitor page for viewing the bandwidth of static ips! You may have missed it because a bug in 1.0.5 prevented it from showing up properly. It's fixed in 1.0.6. (Though it only shows up if you have static ips set, and the monitor is available only for those ips.)

Hay thanks for the reply, I'll do the upgrade tonight and check out the per-IP usage. I find out I personally only need a table without any fancy graph, as long as I can get the count in MBs or GBs per day in monthly cycle that'll be excellent!!

Edit: oh also I was wondering is there a dedicated change log for us to find out the changes involved in each updae?

EDIT: did an upgrade to 1.0.6 and the router stopped working same problem as pbix i think. maybe I've done a bad flash. I currently reverted myself to 1.0.4 and I'll try again after I get home tonight.

I think I've fixed this issue (at least I've caught one issue that matches the symptoms) in 1.0.7. Let me know if this works for you.

While there isn't a dedicated change log with each version (though I do list changes on the release page with every major x.y.0 version), you can find a very detailed log of recent changes to the source here. This is updated in real time, any time there's a change to the SVN repository. All changes you see as of now (11pm eastern time, 8/24/2009), are included in revision 1.0.7

Hi Eric,

yes 1.0.7 worked just fine. and i guess the usage meter per IP you mentioned before is according to the graph.

I was wondering if there's any way to use the 'Total Bandwidth usage' table corresponding to the IP? so i can manage to track the aount of download per IP in term of MBs or GBs?

Cheers!

At this point the table only displays total bandwidth, but I'm currently working on improvements to better display bandwidth of individual ips. So, no you can't get individual ip output in table form now... but this feature is definitely coming in the next month or two.
