Wireless bridge/repeater mode problem

Post by mimile.mimile »

Hi all,

I'm looking ro resolve an issue for a configuration of

wireless bridge/repeater mode in Nanostation2
-----------------------------------------------------------------

Objective:
every hosts connected wired and wireless have to
ping/browse/access feature to each other host from SSID broadcast
and vice_versa.

Problem:
Hosts connected in wired and wireless mode from "SSID to join" can access to hosts
connected wirelessly and wired "SSID to join"
BUT hosts wirelessly/wired connected from "SSID to broadcast" CAN NOT ping/access hosts from "SSID to join".

I try with no luck:
- to disable firewall by removing
in /etc/config/firewall,
the line "option 'path' '/usr/lib/gargoyle_firewall_util/gargoyle_additions.firewall'".
- set option "rebind_protection to 0

Strange note: ping from putty is OK from/to each SSID, but fails when pinging from hosts connected.

Internet access is ok from hosts of each SSID

Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you

Here is the setup in Ubiquiti Nanostation2 (ns2):

Bridge ip: 192.168.1.3
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
AP/gateway: 192.168.1.1 (connected wirelessly to a wireless router + DNS)
DNSservers: Use gateway as DNS server

Connect Via Client bridge

Repeater: enabled
Channel width: 20MHZ
Transmit power: Max

SSID to join: WIFI_FROM_ROUTER (SSID from above wireless router)
SSID to broadcast: WIFI_Gargoyle
Wireless channel: 1
Encryption: WPA2 PSK
password: xxxxxxxxxx

Hi,

i mean that hosts connected wireless/wired can not access/ping others hosts in WIFI_FROM_ROUTER (SSID to join) and WIFI_Gargoyle (SSID to broadcast):
Example: station AAAA connected wirelessly to WIFI_Gargoyle can not view/ping host BBBB connected in WIFI_FOM_ROUTER, and vice-versa

I have a wrt54gs running in bridge repeater (ddwrt firmware) that i want to replace by a nanostation2 running in wireless/repeater mode with gargoyle firmware.

Only, one subnet 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0 for all devices (wired/wireless)

Thanks for the picture

I just realised some of may information above is wrong, sorry about that

I was confused about "Client + AP mode" vs "Wireless Bridge/Repeater"

I need to delete some of my comments

I can see no reason why it won't work
