WNDR3700 & Gargoyle

HI there,
1st time here... very impressive.

I have a Netgear 3700 and it just dumped. I called Netgear and they said if I spend $129 on "new software" my router will work just fine.

Question: is Gargoyle my answer for this? Again I am new to all this.

The 3700 will not get an Internet connection... I have a 2nd 3700 (a friends) which works with my cable modem just fine so it's not the connection.

3700 V1 or V2?. There is a difference in the images for the two.
