What I liked about the netgear 834 to modem solution is it's so easy - no bridging etc, just use the link below and then set the gargoyle as ppoe. Paid £20 for the 834 on ebay and sold the Billion for £90
The nice thing with this solution than a standard modem is should my 3700 fail I still have the 834 as a temporary backup by changing it back to a router
There are no devices available which can be "all-in-one" hosting both router and modem running Gargolye. There are however rather small modems available which is what I use.
But tals suggestion seems like a good one to me since you would have an emergency backup in case of hardware failure.
I think once you have time you can figure out the Over-Quota part. On the quota screen add two quotas. Make them based on "Only the following Hosts", specify the IP ranges of each group (ie "192.168.1.5-192.168.1.50"), the reset interval, the amount of data and finally the "over-quota" class they will end up in when the exceed the quota. Not so difficult.
What you have already should be keeping peace in the household. How's it going?
Ah everything is great! - So far no problems, however it's early days and the exposure has been limited due to being 'near the end of the month' so it resets tonight at 12.00am and I am just making sure everything is in place and that the date and time's etc are correct so that there is no issues with the reset on the quotas.
I noticed only just now after reading your post, when doing the quotas there is a throttle to section but instead of it being a 'speed' like before, it is now a 'class' which is great, it must have been an updated from the old firmware and I never saw that before.
All is sweet, I like the idea of having another Netgear, this one has been pretty solid so far, however I am a bit of a energy freak and may consider a mini modem, I will wait and see what shows up on Ebay.
What I am curious about now, is when we reach our over-quota classes what happens with the gaming class, since the same IP addresses in the quota's will be reflected in the over-quota class... will it still get priority? I will need to do some testing....
Now.... to grab a bunch of nzb's and clock everything up for midnight!
Might have a bit of spare time over the weekend, hopefully.

Thanks a ton for the link, if I get one I will no doubt use this.

This happens because QoS is enabled. What you remember is what the screen looks like without QoS enabled.

The class selected by quotas always get priority over classes selected by QoS rules. Your testing will confirm that.
Your situation is a case study in what Gargoyle can do and what no other router software can. How does it feel to be a poster child?
It certainly taught me more about how flexible the Quota's were - never appretiated you could have it reduce a connection speed on a breached quota, very nice
New question, not sure if I should post here or in another section so I'll start here as it's part of my setup
So basically I'm having some issues with port forwarding with steam and certain games, namely call of duty modern warfare 3.
Ports required are 3074 and 27000-27050
I've done this for my Playstation 3 (x.103) Works a charm - It says the NAT is open and I can host games and all the rest of it.
Now when I try to do the same for my brother (x.201) the ports are already used and I cannot add it to the table.
I have googled and googled and everyone is saying it cannot be done, so what the hell am I supposed to do??? I don't remember having this problem with the Billion and our NAT's were open. I am having an inkling that uPNP was on but everyone says to disable it.
Out of interest what does it do? I have no issues with steam, not tried cod since I had this router and had no issues with other games. But I have no port forwarding set at all, if you take the ps3 port forwarding out does that sort the pc stuff out.
Are you trying to host games or join them and are they on he same ports (then you are in trouble )
