WNDR3700 slow after power off

Hi, I have been running the 1.5.4 version of Gargoyle Router on my WNDR3700 V2 router for a few weeks now. I have been achieving approx. 4/5 bars of signal in the windows wireless controls, and a 300mbps link rate. The transfer rate was more like 60/70mbps in reality.

I had set up my router with various different packages. I had transmission, vsftpd and umurmur installed.

Since I first set up the router, there has not been a hitch, gargoyle/openwrt works great and had a bucket load of features, I love it.

Yesterday, I accidentally cut the power to my router while clients were connected, via both lan and wireless. I assume they were communicating with the router.

Today, I have noticed that link rates have dropped significantly, and actual throughput is about 27-30mbps.
On the connected hosts page I see the three connected clients.

The -74 client usually has a RSSI of under 60 I think, and the link rate displayed is usually above 200. Nothing has changed on the client side of the network. The -74 client is the only client running wireless N.

My network is set up as wireless N 300mbps mode.

My umurmur server on the router is also behaving erratically I believe, although this is not definite.

Now the question is, could the cut of the power from the router have caused corruption? I have had this problem before and I have just solved it by resetting the router and reflashing the firmware, I have not bothered looking into it before, but I now have a lot of configured software that took a long time to set up, and I would rather not loose it.

Any ideas anyone?

Not very likely though

With all those extra packages you have installed, I do wonder whether
or not you are maxing out the flash though.

Not sure if there is a way to check the remaining flash space?

But as you suspect, only true way to tell is to re-flash and re-configure

Backup your current config first though

Then re-flash 1.5.4, basic config, then test throughput.

That way you can always reload your old config file.

It sounds like you know your way around the command line, so
you could do this as well:

Backup the config, then open it up with 7-Zip (free download)

It's a tar and gzip file that has all the config and data files

You can selectively winscp certain files over to keep parts
of your old configuration as well (not recommended for beginners!)

Hi, thanks for the reply!
I guess I will just have to reinstall and reconfigure the gargoyle software with a 30/30/30 reset. This is unfortunate as I have hit a very busy period with many examinations
Does anyone have any ideas how I can prevent this from happening in the future?

There is no such thing as a 30/30/30 reset with OpenWRT.
