WRT54GL v1.1 crash

Re: WRT54GL v1.1 crash
You are aware that dmesg is a kernel message log buffer? Every time the router is rebooted, the contents of dmesg are cleared. What you posted probably has nothing to do with your actual problem.
I've run Gargoyle 1.4.x series with near 2 months of uptime without a single reboot between previous releases. You've now had two problem in a couple days...

Re: WRT54GL v1.1 crash
You can try a downgrade but there does not seem to much changed in previous versions of this file. Last change over a year ago.
Does not seem to be a memory problem but rather that your router's either net switch is not responding properly to configuration.
I leaning towards a hardware problem on your end. Could it be getting insufficient air flow to keep it cool? Also there may be a solder joint going bad on you in there.
How old is it and how long does it usually run before you have this issue?

Re: WRT54GL v1.1 crash
The router would be about 3 months old. It had been working perfectly for about 2 months, now it is crashing on a regular interval.pbix wrote:You can try a downgrade but there does not seem to much changed in previous versions of this file. Last change over a year ago.

It is sitting on a table next to adsl modem, clear airflow, and it is cool in the room.
Re: WRT54GL v1.1 crash
Post the contents of dmesg here again now that the router is seemingly working correctly.

Re: WRT54GL v1.1 crash
I can do that tonight, after I reset up the router again.mix wrote:Post the contents of dmesg here again now that the router is seemingly working correctly.
I will have to do the fisrtboot to clear everything, because it is unusable at the moment.

Re: WRT54GL v1.1 crash
I recommend you take your two dmesg files over to openwrt.org and post there. You might get someone there who knows something about this. You can see that there is a problem in the hardware initialization so it is a pretty low level openwrt thing in my view.

Really, what error am I missing?
What does a good dmesg show?

Re: WRT54GL v1.1 crash
The Ethernet switch fails to initialize. You can see it in the first dmesg file

Re: WRT54GL v1.1 crash
Wouldn't waste your time posting any of this to openwrt forum, the response if any will be something along the lines of, "WTF is /home/eric/gargoyle_1.4/brcm47xx-src/build_dir/linux-brcm47xx/kmod-switch/switch-robo.c? Code that is compiled with missing sources? Use the official release."
I guess I should boot into failsafe mode and see if dmesg gives me the same error message.
