WZR-HP-G300NH-R Cannot Install

Post by Statik »

Hi all,

I've posted before about the failure to upgrade to Gargoyle in another thread. I've managed to recover from it, three times, using the help in that thread. Now I'm trying to get Gargoyle sucessfully installed. I have never managed it yet.

I have tried it three times, once with tftp and twice with telnet. I have also tried openwrt, using the instructions here: http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/buffalo/wzr ... to.openwrt

Nothing seems to work. Here is the boot sequence from the latest failed openwrt load:

So, I'm returning to the Official Buffalo DD-WRT install and waiting for some help from here to hopefully get this running Gargoyle. I'm intending to also ask on the OpenWRT site about installing OpenWRT because I hear I can upgrade from OpenWRT to Gargoyle through their package system.

Please help!

Looking at the warning and the note at the top of the site, I would be very careful with that router.

The below from your dmesg output seems to be the operative error and very much related to the warning on the OpenWRT.org. There is a fix for this in the OpenWRT trunk but has not been backported to Backfire for some reason.

Code: Select all

Realtek RTL8366S ethernet switch driver version 0.2.2
rtl8366s rtl8366s: using GPIO pins 19 (SDA) and 20 (SCK)

I'm reading through the long thread now. I'm looking at one of the custom trunk builds but I'd love to learn how to make a custom gargoyle build for this router. I'm rather at a loss as to where to start.

OK, I've worked through the long thread and managed to TFTP a working install of OpenWRT onto the router. http://www.mediafire.com/?vq539lz2odqqm3u
That's the one.
Router NameOpenWrt
Router ModelBuffalo WZR-HP-G300NH

Firmware Version
OpenWrt Firmware Attitude Adjustment (r29561) /
LuCI Trunk (trunk+svn8105)

Kernel Version2.6.39.4

Now, can I get to gargoyle from there?
